Stell Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Stell app and service ("Stell", "we"). By creating an account or claiming a sandbox you agree to them. They supplement Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to the app itself.
1. What Stell is
Stell provisions a private cloud development machine (a "sandbox") for you and lets AI coding agents work in it from your phone. Stell does not include AI model access: agents run under your own Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (Codex) subscription or API key, which you connect inside your sandbox and which remain governed by those providers' terms.
2. Free trial
- New accounts may claim one free sandbox including 2 hours of compute time, measured as time your sandbox machine is running (idle machines are stopped automatically).
- One free trial per person and per device. We use Apple's DeviceCheck to enforce this; attempting to farm additional trials (multiple accounts, resold devices, or other circumvention) may result in refusal of service.
- When the trial budget is used up, the sandbox is stopped. Your work is preserved for 30 days; upgrading within that window resumes exactly where you left off. After 30 days the sandbox and its storage are permanently deleted.
3. Stell Pro subscription
- Stell Pro is an auto-renewable monthly subscription purchased through Apple. Current pricing is shown in the app before purchase.
- Pro includes a larger sandbox machine and 40 compute hours per month of included usage, subject to fair use. Sustained automated usage far beyond included hours may be throttled or paused to protect the service.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel it in your Apple account's Subscriptions settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.
4. Acceptable use
Your sandbox is a general-purpose computer, and with that comes responsibility. You must not use it to:
- mine cryptocurrency, run botnets, proxies/VPN exits, or unrelated bulk workloads;
- attack, scan, or disrupt networks or systems, send spam, or host malware;
- violate any law or third parties' rights, or store/distribute illegal content;
- attempt to break sandbox isolation, abuse the relay or control plane, or circumvent usage metering or trial limits;
- resell or share access to your sandbox.
We may suspend or terminate sandboxes engaged in abuse, with or without notice where the integrity of the service requires it.
5. Your content and AI output
- Your code stays yours. We claim no rights over repositories, changes, or artifacts in your sandbox.
- AI agents make mistakes. Output is generated by third-party models acting on your instructions; you are responsible for reviewing changes before merging, pushing, or deploying them, and for anything your connected accounts (e.g. GitHub) do as a result of tasks you start.
- You are responsible for keeping rights to any code you bring into your sandbox.
6. Availability and data
Sandboxes stop when idle and resume on demand; brief interruptions, maintenance windows, and capacity limits can occur. Keep anything important pushed to your own repositories — the sandbox is a working environment, not a backup service. Retention rules are described in section 2 and in the Privacy Policy.
7. Account deletion and termination
You may delete your account in Settings at any time, which destroys your sandbox and its storage. We may terminate accounts that materially violate these terms. Sections 5, 8, and 9 survive termination.
8. Disclaimers
Stell is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that agents, sandboxes, or the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or produce correct code.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or damage caused by code changes made by agents you instructed. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. General
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use constitutes acceptance. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
